Syria crisis: US-trained rebels give equipment to al-Qaeda affiliate - BBC News

Congress has approved $500m (£323m) to train and equip about 5,000 rebels to fight against Islamic State militants.

WTF? It costs 100,000 dollars to train a rebel? Worse yet only 4 of the first 54 "graduates" are still fighting (maybe).

What is worse, those "rebels" were in fact terrorists themselves, fighting against the legitimate government of Syria. Now that the Russians are going in to support Syria and fight ISIS, in all likelihood these weapons will be used against them. Just how is this any different than Iran supplying weapons to terrorists, that then use them to attack Israelis?

The general admitted the other day that it was just 5 rebels, not 5,000.

I was listening to NPR a month or so ago and they were interviewing a reporter (I think from the NYT) that complained that the US Govt was suppressing or pressuring any negative stories out of the Syria\Iraq area and that they'd seen things deteriorating and ISIS on the rise etc.

Bush 3.0 for the loss....

All you have to do is see who got the contract. It's all about money. Hopefully people by now realize that bush and Obama are not much different. You and your silly vote don't count. Only those who do them favors are worthy.

Sounds almost as expensive as those shovel-ready stimulus jobs.

They upped the number to 9, maybe. And now the military is requesting $600 million for next year to train 5000 (5) more.
