There was an American Hero, a veteran, who went toward the killer. He took 7 bullets and helped save many more students. All he could do was to talk to the killer. Thank God he is alive today.

If he would have been legally armed, he might have ended it right there

If my kids were in college today, I guarantee they would be armed!
Oregon allows for concealed carry on it's campuses .. This particular school was gun free by choice (local policy) and even bragged about it a while back. Thus alerting every crackpot in the state to come on down to shoot the place up.

Gun Free doesn't do anything but encourage these kinds of things to happen.

Our local community college is gun-free. Even the part-time maintenance man, who is state licensed in his other job of transporting felons, is required to leave his gun off campus. I have to be on the campus twice a week and It can be scary.
We have these rules about putting tables against the doors to keep a gunman out, and there is no place in the classrooms to avoid being shot if someone shot through the doors.

I carried my gun to my HS for four years. I shot on our HS rifle team from the time I was 12 to the time I graduated. I kept my gun in a case while transporting it to school; but I had the key for the case in my pocket. It was my responsibility to keep my rifle under lock and key and unloaded while transporting it to school. The smaller kids use to use my rifle case as a foot stool on the bus! I made the mahogany case, that I used to transport my gun, myself. I had a Model 52D which was more than capable of killing; especially since I could put one .22 in the same hole time after time at 50 feet. I know that many do not think of .22s as dangerous; but they can kill just as quick as the largest weapons - especially at close range and with accuracy.

We have all heard that driving is a privilege. We'll shooting on a rifle team was a privilege back then. I would never do anything to loose that privilege. It taught responsibility. Today we tell our youth that they are not responsible for anything - it is always somebody's fault; not theirs. Then you combine that lack of responsibility with Hollywood's desensitizing our young with Walking Dead, Saw, and many others. Plus nobody is home for guidance and this is what you get!

It's obviously the Gun Free Zone signs that stop the mayhem.

There are over 11 million CCWs in America. If any one of them are accused of gun violence, they immediately have their CCW revoked. Do you know how many revocations we average?

"Revocations and suspensions occur when people are charged with a crime, but only about 5 percent or less of these cases result in conviction and thus people are eligible for having their licenses reinstated. While 120 were convicted of a crime in 2012, 905 people had their permits revoked, for a total rate of 0.15%. Over the last five years that revocation data is available (2009 to 2013), the rate is slightly lower, 0.13%"

People who legally carry are not the problem. When will people be able to distinguish between people who legally carry and those that choose to break the law by carrying without a license.

All wishful thinking. There was an incident in NY where the cops fired multiple times missing the assailant and
shot bystanders. Then there have been several incidents where the so-called good guy with the CCW shot the victim by mistake.

This is the only country with a lunacy mentality that every citizen armed to the teeth will make us all safe.

Here are approximately 7000 examples of successful defensive gun uses. Each example provides a link or citation to the local news story so each one can be verified. In many cases, these firearms saved lives.

We don't even take cars away from drunk drivers for more than a few years. I know one man that killed another driver while drunk and after two years in jail he was trained by our state to hold a CDL! So; go figure.

There are many other dangerous weapons besides guns. Cars, trucks, screwdrivers, hammers, and many more. So many people die every year from just being beaten to death. Guns are a great equalizer and the criminals understand that.
