Makes Russia look bad.

Russia successfully backing Assad and defeating the rebels gives them a lot of clout internationally that they take care of their allies.

It helps Russia have more sway than the US in some countries, sell wheapons etc etc.

In this particular instance though it's more likely that the Russian missles just suffered some sort of malfunction, which happens. Heck, once upon a time they blew up a good portion of their space program workers when they all went out to look at a rocket that failed to launch.

Heck, the Russian navies biggest threat is often.....the Russian navy. (in fairness though, McCain got shot down by his own faulty rockets)

4 of 16 fell to the ground in Iran. I wonder if the other 12 hit their targets. They probably landed in Iraq, or took out a camel. The Russians really are the Keystone Cops when it comes to smart weapons and even dumb ones. Back in 99 they couldn't even get their RPGs to work.

"At 1: 30 p.m. yesterday, a bright, sunny afternoon, a man dressed in camouflage and wearing a black mask got out of a sport utility vehicle across from the embassy and aimed a shoulder-fired grenade launcher.

When it didn't fire, he threw it down and pulled out another. The second failed as well. The man threw it down and jumped into the vehicle as police guarding the embassy opened fire. Two machine gun bursts from the sport utility hit the front of the embassy as the vehicle sped off."

Not with Russian made missiles

Russian missiles are often a bigger threat to their own operators then their enemy. The reason they lost in Afghanistan wasn't because of us supplying equipment to their enemies it was the failure of their own equipment

That might not end well IF the Iranians did shoot down the Russian missiles.
