If you were president or a law maker, how would you solve the 20 trillion USD debt?
Me:
Legalize prostitution to create legal jobs. And give men more jobs since a lot of women would quit theirs.
Legalize weed to free up police and create tax, and reduce organized crime.
Sell security to African countries with US military, or any country that needs defense from gangs or rebels or w/e.
Probably cut some funding to social security since that's the highest expense of the US gov.
Have the Executive mandate the stamping of one (1) Trillion dollar platinum proof coin each year. The coins would be deposited each year into the Federal Reserve's Treasury account, and held there untouchable by anyone or any agency into perpetuity.
Well, the largest expenditures in our budget are in the areas of Social Security, healthcare, and military spending. While I take a libertarian view on such topics as prostitution and legalization of marijuana, I don't think these are going to make much of a difference.
I'd start by scrutinizing health care costs. Health care providers are way out of control -- concerned with profits rather than patients. It might help to put a lid on military intervention in the affairs of foreign states. And, younger Americans may come to see some changes in their contributions to social security, or in their future benefits.

I thought you had to pay for ALL healthcare in the states? Not the government
Every great empire in the history of human civilization eventually succumb to a lot of debts. And every one of them either fell spectacularly or had a regime change that would nullify all the debts.
I apologise but I'm not fully aware with how it works across the pond ..... Not yer anyways
One way the USA could cut down its debt is cut down on foreign aid. The same could be said of the U.K.
