The Wealthy middle eastern countries can simply point a finger back to to the US and say "You caused this...you clean it up"
The ME was a mess long before anyone landed on Plymouth Rock. Our actions over the last 15 years haven't helped, but it's a stretch to assign blame to the US for this mess.

Lightbulb Bernie Sanders: Demand Middle East's Wealthy Nations Deal With Isis, Syria

Bernie's definitely on the right track here. It's absolutely their problem and not ours. As for making demands, the Arab countries are good at ignoring them from any and all sources.

What we need to do is simply pull out all of our people and equipment right now and let these mindless b*st*rds butcher one another until they've gotten a gut full. Because they'll never grow up and behave like adults just because the rest of the world thinks it's time that they should. They've been at it for 10,000 years and show no signs of maturing.

Let it bleed.

Bernie is right on this one.

I'd take it even further; Renewable energy/Hydrogen cars and tell the ME to eat their oil.

If you keep an open mind about the label 'socialist', this guy has great ideas, no denying them.

I'm with Bernie. Why should we spend money that is badly needed for other things and send our young men and women off to spill their blood in nations that will thank us by helping terrorists attack our national security and construct roadside bombs that they will deny all responsibility for - on and on. I'm tired of pretending that these people are our so-called allies. Let them use their own wealth and the blood of their own young people to take care of their own nations. And if they refuse to take care of themselves, well too bad for them. The US doesn't need their oil - we've got plenty of fracking oil of our own. It's like these countries are giant well-fare states sucking the US dry. At the very least, let's send our own kids to college/tech school; do some badly needed work on our own infrastructure; pay down our own national debt; take care of our immigration problem right on our own borders instead of some place 7,000 miles away that you can't even find them on the map. Since when has the US become responsible for every sleaze bag nation on the globe? You tell 'em, Bernie!

Pull out of the ME and watch them cry for us to come back. Then wait for a year or two to see what they do.
SA will turn around and sell oil in a currency or more likely a basket of currencies, other than the USD.

See who has the last laugh.

I find it challenging when everyone says f'em, pull out and let them deal with it, but when Russia moves in to fill the void everyone is clutching their pearls and saying how could we be so weak to let them do this. Totally speaking out of both sides of our faces.

A great foreign policy idea - just ask, I mean, demand, that the other nation(s) take care of a problem at a cost of billions of dollars and thousands of lives. It works every time . . . . because we are awesome. Watch, Mr. Trump will also make Mexico pay for and perhaps even build a border fence!

In these times we need to dissect what these politicians are saying. We need someone very savvy about geopolitics to keep us out of future such messes. As to Bernie, read carefully what he is saying. You all grabbed onto his statement about the ME taking care of ISIS and the US not having to keep doing this. From this, one would think he's got it figured out - but he doesn't. He ALSO said that he would phase out Assad. This is both arrogant -just as much as previous administrations were, and is foolish showing a total lack of understanding of the ME.

Much of the ME has no frame of reference for western style democracy. We cannot force this on them assuming we know the answer to their problems. Sadly, history has shown us that the closest thing they've come to with stability and allowing their peoples a hint of freedom for most religions and tribes, is when they have dictators in charge - Shah of Iran, Assad, Gaddafi, et al. We have no right to impose our ways or interfere in their politics. America has a history of supporting such despots and then turning against them years later when it no longer benefits us or things become messy.

Bernie is refreshingly honest, I respect that. But he's more of the same if he thinks we have the to right to remove foreign leaders from power.

Also, while I haven't really studied up on him. If he is a Socialist, I want no part of him. I grew up in England with this national mindset, Socialism sucks! It's the Le Car of politics! The problem is it never ends...the govt gets sucked into bailing so many ppl and companies, that folks slowly lose their desire to work for what they want. They believe the govt owes them. People complain about big government now, wait until Socialism gets its sticky fingers into your lives and taxes....I need some Rolaids...shudder the thought!
