You could argue that democracy within your local union has more tangible effects on your daily life than state or national level politics.

Simply put, the organized need to get REorganized.
Easier said than done my friend when the membership are mostly Dimocrats...

Well what is right wing is changing and will change. The Republicans are having an image crisis. Not when you look at the congress but rather what the brand stands for. That is the problem with the Speaker of the House and getting votes in the Senate.

Why can't right-wingers understand that their days are over, millenials will take over decades and want to become like those Nordic/Western European, Australian/New Zealand labor and government type system where the government provides life/social saferty net and security, free/very low cost education at all levels, mandatory paid days off from work, universal healthcare, and free from debt! Invest the money on our people, not foreigners and nonsense spending on military, wars, etc.! Millenials are sick and tired of having huge student loan debts while some may not find jobs because it's crappy low wages with some even no benefits, high cost of living, competition and expensive homes/rents, expensive daycares, etc. making life for non-rich people difficult. We pay already high taxes but barely get anything back from them unlike in Europe!!!! Capitalism will eventually die out hopefully...

Cut foreign & military aid, invest on us!!

OK, sounds like a plan.

If the millenial's dream is best and most representationally elucidated in such a poorly written paragraph as the OP's, then it should remain a dream because millenial's shouldn't be trusted with anything that an actual college educated graduate would be entrusted with.

One cannot bring Scandinavian style socialism to the U.S.A. It works because of Scandanavians. We only have a few small, shrinking populations of them here. To illustrate, the same Washington D.C. community that cannot ensure basic safety standards for its Subway system, and thus needs such oversight to be handled by the federal government, is developmentally very far from being able to implement a responsible and nominally functional socialism. Most simple individuals think that a community socialism is something that happens to them rather than something that is built and maintained by them. This is another illustration of the fundamental difference between the Scandinavians and everyone else.

Great information. The answer about why we are getting more Republicans as more Millennials get eligible to vote is because they are trending Republican. Sorry, OP and Democrat delusional masses but Millennials are seeing through your hogwash and trending to vote more and more with the Republicans.

Speak for yourself. I'm a Millennial. Nothing good seems to really come from Democratic Socialism. Look at the EU. Sure, lots of benefits, but stagnant growth. Their economies are still in the crapper, and the Great Recession was 7 years ago! We've recovered far better than they. We can have SOME elements (some more vacation time, some paid parental leave, socialized medicine), but going all out doesn't seem to work well.

Well, good luck with more vacation time; more parental leave and socialized medicine (other than Medicare).

I could get on board with some type of hybrid solutions to our problems but our current system of government seems to work AGAINST compromise instead of FOR compromise.

If the young are trending Republican - why are so many college kids flocking to Bernie Sanders?

Because they haven't entered the real world yet. They think we can support a single-payer system and have free college for all by raising taxes on the rich and cutting the military.

Why wouldn't a young, naive kid support someone who said he would pay for their college by taxing the rich?

This is quite laughable. Read the black book of communism and you will understand what is coming. You will get something but it will be something that you will be quite sorry.
