I don't think we should be removing anyone from power and I support complete withdraw from the Middle East-militarily, economically.
But I think the US allows/has allowed ISIS to proliferate in Syria because they are also a threat to Assad's regime-the removal of which seems to be the only goal of the US over there.
Russia, at the request of the Syrian government, was flying over Syrian airspace. When you are bombing targets on/near the border, and flying at 10 miles per minute, it's easy to stray over a spur on the ragged border. The plane crashed in Syria.
"Rebels said they fired at the two parachuting pilots as they descended, and that one had died. A rebel spokesman said they would consider releasing the body in exchange for prisoners held by Syria. The fate of the second pilot was not immediately known."
The CIA has been arming ISIL and the rebels since 2011, we are letting ISIL help get rid of Assad. The assumption is that once Assad is gone that the Iranian, the Iraqis and the US would then take care of ISIL. Putin kinda messed that all up.
