It's a sad thing, not the Cubs, but watching my home state circle the drain. It's unfortunately a harbinger of things to come for the entire nation, unless we change our ways...

We're still living in denial that we have money problems.

You can't tax the rich for your ever increasing spending.

Thread is a bit misleading. Don't get me wrong - Illinois and Chicago face HUGE pension issues. But the payments now are not being made bc there is no budget in place, and payments can't be made without a budget.

In the real world, when you don't have enough money to pay not only your current bills, but are unable to pay the ones that are coming due in the near future you are in effect, bankrupt. Budget impasse notwithstanding.

Ahhhhhh, where's Margaret Thatcher when you need her? In her words, the problem with liberals is that sooner or later you run out of OTHER peoples money.....and Hillary and Bernie want to amp it up. Neither can speak to making sustainable jobs/wealth. Sanders thinks they can build roads and bridges...what happens when the disability claims flow in?

The left does realize the if Bernie gets his way, those sitting in the couch are the LEAST likely to do it...working outside in the heat, rain, cold....and that's his constituency he's talking about it....hilarious....what do we do Bernie when the bridges are built? Send them home on unemployment?

The Democrats just don't get it. Wealth is made at the conversion of raw materials. And they are allergic to understanding that.

For all the jokes about CA's financial woes, it was always overlooked byt he media that IL's per capita debt load was 3x that of CA's. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, especailly when in reality, NY will be next before CA. I had wished that Rauner had not run, his inability to fix the problems in a short time and not have the latitude to make hard choices will be completely overlooked by he media.
