Thanks to men with tiny penises and big guns the African elephant population has declined by 62% in the last ten years....Lion populations in the 40s were estimated at 450,000, and today there may be as few as 20,000.....I have nothing against subsistence hunting, and but that if the animal is not eaten it should not be killed....

Baloney. Where do you people get these, "facts"?

Kenya has had a terrible problem with poachers and eliminating hunting hasn't had an effect on it one way or another. However BEFORE the hunting ban on elephants, they lost HALF of their elephants in one decade.

"Between 1970 and 1977, Kenya lost more than half of its elephants.[21] Large scale tourism promotion picked up in Kenya following the imposed hunting ban in Kenya since 1977. It has been noted that "photographic tourism", or non-consumptive wildlife use, is contributing 12% of Kenya’s GDP. Hence, some groups have recommended that tourism be promoted rather than any kind of hunting or consumptive wildlife use, as it could divert the attention of the government of Kenya from the policy goal of wildlife preservation.[22]"

Can hunting endangered animals save the species? - CBS News

Where can you find some of the best big game hunting in the world? It's a place that may surprise you. Tonight, we're going to take you on a journey into a world that many people don't even know exists.

To get the best view, we flew by helicopter over this vast terrain. From the air, we could see herds of African antelope and zebra charging across the wide open spaces. It looks remarkably like Africa, but it's not. This is Texas.

Here in the Lone Star State the iconic Texas longhorn now shares the range with more than a quarter million animals from Asia, Africa, Europe. Today, Texas has more exotic wildlife than any other place on earth.

Lara Logan: How many exotics do you have in Texas?

Charly Seale: I think our last count there's like 125 different species here in Texas.
Raising animals just to kill them is (a) not a sport, it'a butchering. And (b) this is Texas, not Africa. (c) It's got NOTHING to do with sustainability of animals in the wild.

The population decreased because of poachers, not paying big game hunters. The money from big game hunters allows the rest of the heard to be protected by game wardens.

Here is a nice article on the subject for you

Every time the castrati open their mouths they show they know nothing about elephants, hunting or Africa. Just yapping little dogs eaten up by hubris.

Completely ignoring the fact that sustainable populations of things like the Dama gazelle only exist because of ranching in Texas. Of course the same kind of hand wringing, bed wetting fools that are posting their anti-hunting nonsense tried to stop ranching the gazelles and other endangered species in Texas because they'd rather see them extinct than hunted.

Poachers and loss of habitat. Farmer don't much like elephants in any kind of proximity so they'd just as soon poison them. The elephant population is only attractive to them if they produce revenue that devolves to the villages i.e. hunting. Of course the antis are so in love with their self-righteous ignorance that they would rather see them extinct than hunted.

You just repeatedly demonstrate that you're a liar, either willingly or through ignorance. Wikipedia is the home of the activist propagandists and you know it. You probably are one, so your quote is not worth a bucket of warm spit.
