Amen. Send them packing. The "Progressives," a.k.a. "socialists," are destroying the country.

And the whole world hates all of us!

We have states like California, New Jersy, etc. that ignore the Constitution and common sense in their laws. Two million people in prison at any given time. A private prison INDUSTRY. Most people can't go to lunch without committing five felonies by accident. Infrastructure is failing. Half the country is on welfare, the other half is retired and 1% pays 90% of the taxes to support the whole house of cards. Half the country is an armed camp waiting for civil war. The other half goading them into pulling the trigger.

Maybe it's time to just throw in the towel and section the country like Europe. The leftist coast would be a nuclear powerhouse, until they taxed companies to death. The midwest would still be a conservative breadbasket, the northeast and rust belt could continue devolving into ghetto. The confederacy could rise again! Everyone could still vacation in FL and Hawaii.

What do you think? Is it just time for everyone to go our separate ways, before we all kill each other? Otherwise how do we fix this mess?

PS - I apologize if my thoughts are not fully developed on this issue. I was just watching the news, and there's so much contention and hate I wondered how we can possibly remain a union.
Nah, we're good.

Though, I'd like some citations.

At some point, when pushed too far, the citizens of this nation tend to coalesce rapidly and with an absolute goal. The takers of freedom have no conscience (or conscientious limits) and will eventually go too far. They know this to be true and this is why it is crucial they disarm those they wish to control. PERIOD

My point was, in the revolution, you saw a lot of business interests lining up behind the "patriots". In fact, more business interests were lining up for secession than continued union. Pretty much every farmer favored secession, even the large plantation owners, who were angry that they were being cut out of what would become the Northwest territories(the Rust Belt states), as a result of the Quebec Act of 1774.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_Act

What many people don't realize, is that George Washington was absolutely obsessed with land and farming, and he was making significant real-estate investments in the new territories. In fact, George Washington effectively started the Seven-years war(French-Indian war).

Lieutenant Colonel George Washington begins the Seven Years’ War - May 28, 1754 - HISTORY.com

He wanted to kick the Frenchies out of the Great Lakes region, and wanted it to become colonial territory(the Northwest territories are "Northwest" of Virginia). He was irritated that the territory was being given to French Catholics, and the British Protestant colonists, who he felt had fought the war to gain control of that territory, were being cut out of the new territory, of which he was already making investments.

The Quebec Act is one of the "intolerable acts", which led to secession.

Alexander Hamilton was from New York City, and New York City overall did not support independence. In fact, they didn't even think New York would sign the Constitution(the Federalist Papers were articles in the New York newspapers, whose purpose was to convince the people why the Constitution was good and necessary). But New York City, then, as now, was full of bankers and merchants. They had far more to gain by staying a part of the British Empire.

Which is why the first thing Alexander Hamilton did, was to start the "Treasury" and the "First National Bank", and his first policy was "Assumption", where he bought up all the debt from all the states, and had the Federal Government pay it off. This was to basically buy off the New York bankers, to gain their support.

Thus my real point is, the reason why the Revolution was ultimately successful, was because it had significant "business" support, as well as direct support from the French government(which wanted to break the British Empire up, to weaken it).

The problem in modern times, is that secession, as people want it, isn't really in the interests of very many businesses. Not only would the bankers and merchants oppose it, but most farmers, real-estate investors, entrepreneurs, and pretty much everyone else, will also oppose it.

You basically only have some small farmers, basically "preppers", who hide out in the wilderness with a bunch of guns. And for that matter, what foreign government is going to offer direct assistance? They might funnel in cash assistance at best, but no other country is going to provide direct support.

No, the only way something like that will happen, is if the economy is already in the trash. And not just trash, but supertrash. I'm talking worse than Great Depression. And even then, it needs to be something that is slow-moving and prolonged, as well as an increasing level of insecurity, so that people voluntarily move away form the cities, as to allow them to be "more independent".

I'm still waiting on all of those liberals to leave the country who said that they would when Bush was elected, and then re-elected. And I'm also still waiting on Jeneanne Garafolo to crawl on her knees over broken glass to the WH, like she said she would, because Bush was re-elected. Libs first!

Just restrain the Feds. Keep them out of everyone's business and let the states deal with their own backyards.
Let the people have control on a local level. The Fed government has become way too big. Brother.
