The same liberals who denounce Columbus, think the Pilgrims slaughtered natives, and that Jesus is fictional are the same liberals suing for time off to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. Crazy.
well, remember that liberalism is a mental disorder.
this is untrue. I have worked in retail going on 6 years now. Never worked on thanksgiving(until 2013) even as i moved up into management.
The freight truck comes in on monday or Tuesday and we stage all day Wednesday even closing early on that day.
It hasnt always been like this.
This IS true, just not in your personal experience.
I own a retail business and in my personal experience - we've never closed on Thanksgiving. Not in 20 years.
It's one of the busiest days of the year.
The local and not so local competition that is closed or closes early in the day? We love them.
My employees? We ask well in advance and get commitments. We don't demand or schedule and say "too bad, you're working". Some will work a few hours in the morning, go home for the rest of the day, some will come in after they eat - and are happy to get away from their annoying relatives or screaming nieces and nephews.
Obviously they are paid time and a half and we give out a "Turkey Day" bonus to them as well.
We celebrate a few days later on Sunday. Our family members who can't wait (we host) and HAVE to eat turkey on Thursday? They do. And then they join us on Sunday.

I know a lot of people who want to work during holidays because they want the money
They should get paid holiday
