Agree, the war in drugs does not work. The Portuguese model would be the way for the U.S. to follow.

Unfortunately some people get addicted, but by no means should the drugs be illegal because as we both agreed this policy has been a complete failure.

He was raised by his biological father who is a huge drug addict and was in and out of jail himself. When he came to our house it was total culture shock. He choose his path and will now have to deal with it for the rest of his life. I hope the drugs were worth it for him.

I understand what you're saying and you seen intelligent and seem to understand where I'm coming from but I don't think legalizing every single drug is the answer. In fact I feel that is a scary proposition in my opinion.

You brought it up!!! IMO, no mother who loves her child and is in her right mind would leave a child with an alcoholic/drug addict. There are shelters for mothers with children to go to. No excuse in the world to do that. But that's something she has to live with.
