I struggle to imagine a more insulting requirement of society, and specifically women, than being required to acknowledge men be recognized as women.
Feminism, for all its flaws, is based on the reality of biological womanhood: starting one's period, childbearing, menopause, the child rearing, breastfeeding, miscarriage, abortion...I could go on and on.
You might disagree with much of what some feminists espouse, and their conclusions, but unless you are dishonest you can not deny the physical and historical reality of what it means to be a woman.
Anyone who stands on the side of men who choose to wear dresses in this debate is denying what it means to be a woman.
If anyone can be a woman just because they say they are, being a woman means nothing.
Being a man or a woman is more than just about genitalia. It's about how you see yourself, how you live in society as a result of that, and much more.
For the vast majority of people, the genitals and the internal gender identity match. For a small percentage of the population, however, this is not the case.
I've given this example before, but imagine if in the middle of the night, somebody replaced your female parts with male parts (your profile says you're female, so I'm going with that) and all of the associated physical changes, yet left your brain intact. Would you simply accept your new role as a man? Or would you be bothered and angry, thinking that this is a mistake, and wish you could go back to being a woman? My guess is the latter. That's what transgender people feel. (There are also people who have no gender, multiple genders, a different gender, or an unspecified gender, but we'll avoid that topic for now.)
Caitlyn Jenner is biologically male. Because of her internal gender identity, she is a woman.
Shouldn't she only be woman of the 2nd half of the year. You know, since the first half of the year, and the 60+ years before that! she was a man.
Absolutely bizarre world.
