You are asking the right questions because many people don't understand what is happening here. People don't understand why people freeze up, run, or fight the police. It comes from various places and can be deeply rooted. Same way you have a police who lives to chase after danger his entire career.
The only thing most people will call for is the firing of the police officer but really don't understand what is going on here.
Just a hood rat trying to gain 'spect points for "dissing" cops.
Looks to me like the cop didn't handle this very well. If cops are going to physically remove a student from a classroom it might be a good idea to have two cops on the scene. That would reduce the chance of injury to both the cops and the student.
I personally think there is dysfunction on both ends.
There is no way a student should be allowed to not leave the room when the teacher ask. The parents should be made to come to the school and take control of the situation.
There's no way an officer should even think that he should be able to get away with manhandling anyone like that regardless. There is probably some dysfunction in his background that should've come out in the screening process before he got his badge.
There also seems to be a training issue. The officer didn't use any people skills. He used a low key tone and told her he was going to move her. That shows a training issue.
The abuse of force has become common.
Girl was disrupting class. None of us know the details.
Girl declined to leave class when asked to do so by the teacher.
Girl declined to leave the class when asked to do so by the Assistant Principal.
Girl declined to leave the class when asked to do so by the Officer.
Should the entire school day be disrupted or the class relocated while the school attempts to contact the parents and assuming they can be located, the gap of time before their arrival?
And what happens if the girl still declines to leave?
Has the abuse of force become common or has the use of phone cameras and social media made us all more aware of situations that escalate? Sound like a swell way for a kid, any kid to disrupt the school day, every day.
Police were called in to remove disruptive kids ( usually drunk or high) when I went to high school back in the 70's. Kids often applauded the Police. Some would shout " pigs" and they too were escorted out the door.
It's sad so many are so quick to convict based upon 15 second video.

You are right. Now, you have a cop that runs to danger and has all types of stress levels up there, couple with the power of the badge, add some race to it, and what do you think is going to happen?
People don't realize that once you have the power, any type of dissing to a cop will snap something off and many cops black out. He was so charged in that video that he literally lost his mind for a moment.
When you are running towards shots fired, you lose your mind. Imagine everday dealing with that type of stress. That hood rat attitude will cause you to black out. It happens to the best of us.
What happens when a woman sucks her teeth and the man slaps the heck out of her- it's a brief black out.
Ok, according to one of the reporters on TV last night, The girl had been swearing at and threatening the teacher. and refused to leave. The officer told her she needed to leave, she refused and swore at him. He tried to forcibly make her get up, she started kicking and swinging her arms at him, trying to strike him. You saw the rest on the video. What do some of you expect the officer to do? Say "pretty please" and hope that she will obey?
The reporter also said that the girl has a history of violence, whatever that means.
I see a lot of crying for the poor girl, and calls from some that "something more diplomatic" should have been done, but as usual none of these that are crying have offered any actual solutions.
What SPECIFICALLY could have been done?
He has to remove her.
If he tasered her you are crying.
If he pepper-sprayed her you are crying.
How would YOU have removed her from the class?
if a cop can't figure out how to get a teen ager out of a class room without this over the top reaction he shouldn't be a cop/
you don't understand human dynamics. you expect the same person that runs into a burning house to save a child is going to apply logic and compassion all the time. That is the part you don't get. He didn't just wake up today throwing people around. And she didn't just wake up today not giving 2 whats about authority. Put them together, what do you thing is going to happen? That nerve touches a really lethal spring.

I was a cop back in the 80's in N. VA. After work stopped by a pizza joint for my free pizza (allowed back then) to see a mountain of a guy trashing the place because his pitcher of beer didn't arrive fast enough. The manager demanded I do something and I said "Me, hell, call the cops" and ducked behind the counter with him. Once backup arrived, dove into the fray and it took 6 of us to subdue him.
Point is, the officer in the video could have called another officer and both of them lift the hood rat up still seated in her desk and hauled her out. If she started thrashing then drop her dumb ass. I will not get hurt over some stupid hood rat.
I have no ego to bruise so the cat calls that inevitably would come my way I would ignore. To this day what people think of me doesn't bother me at all since their thoughts have no bearing on my life and how I live it. The central issue is, my word and the law will be enforced. How I go about it is my way. Everyone is different in how they handle each and every situation.
I will always take the easy way out.
