The estimated poverty-fighting power of these programs has been dramatically understated for years. Turns out anti-poverty programs not only work, but work better than we thought.
So now we are going to base our opinions on "studies" down on, survey's"

"The official data on poverty comes from the Current Population Survey's"

PSST, I have a very seldom used bridge for sale. Are you interested?

My FIRST question whenever I see a poll or a survey is, WHO PAID FOR THEM?

And raise crime and debt by how much? And ruin how many good neighborhoods?

Why do people pack up and run for the hills at the first sign of a section 8 housing complex?

44 million Americans/100 billion dollar program is a massive fraud on the taxpayers.

On top of that, it yields an adult obesity rate (obese, not just overweight) of 44%, meaning obesity-related illness treatment and reduced productivity costs are also likely to be 1/3 higher because of all the people overeating on SNAP.

Yup, it gets them out of poverty and puts Americans into poverty as they struggle to keep up with food prices.. the free food to food stamp recipients keeps the price of food high because the food stamp crowd will pay $5 for a gallon of milk. They get it free..no matter how high the price goes along with meat, eggs and all food stuffs they will buy it.

Up to a certain amount, I am pretty sure it isn't $50,000 either.

Like these "inconvenient" numbers?

  • In 2014, the official poverty rate was 14.8 percent. There were 46.7 million people in poverty. Neither the poverty rate nor the number of people in poverty were statistically different from the 2013 estimates.
  • For the fourth consecutive year, the number of people in poverty at the national level was not sta*tistically different from the previ*ous year’s estimates.

This article is flat wrong. That is NOT what that study summarized. The study said people on public assistance are reluctant to reporting themselves to census workers and thus the real numbers of those taking government handouts is underreported. The research was in New York!

Using Linked Survey and Administrative Data to Better Measure Income: Implications for Poverty, Program Effectiveness and Holes in the Safety Net
Cost is $5 to get the article

You grabbed a liberal middle man who twisted the story around to meet overall liberal agenda. Your silly headline unfortunately gets a bump again.
Nice try. Want to be a debate moderator?

The Current Population Survey is paid for and carried out by the federal government. So is the American Community Survey, the Survey of Consumer Finances, the American Housing Survey, and hundreds more. Feel better now?
