There is no such thing as a Section 8 housing complex. These are not throw-backs to the days of the projects. With the stroke of a pen, any landlord can become a participant in Section 8. Stories of Section 8 being used to put people into posh and well-appointed luxury apartments were true in many cases. This was because the rents received from Section 8 were more than the nothing these properties had been earning beforehand.

And you know, if we insist on driving low wages even lower (which we do every day by refusing to increase the minimum wage), we are going to end up with a lot of low-income people around. They are all going to live somewhere and some of them may choose to settle down right next to you. Better get used to it.

(about that $50,000 vehicle)

Those who routinely game the system never put a vehicle into their own name.

They put it in Grandma's name. Or Great-Auntie's.

Either of whom might be 90+ years old, in a nursing home, and fed through a tube.

SNAP fraud rates are low and the bulk of fraud that does occur is done by participating merchants, not by beneficiaries. There were just under 45.5 million SNAP recipients in July 2015, down by just over a million from July 2014. The surge in SNAP caseloads was caused by the disastrous Great Recession that dingbat Republicans created, and as the economy slowly improves, those caseload levels will continue to fall.

Sorry, but you are wrong. SNAP benefits may be used on a wide variety of foods. They do not make any special contribution to obesity.

Depends on what you call fraud. Getting 2 or more public assistance food program benefits for the exact same meals has led to the following problem:

Poor adults with food stamps: 44% obese
Poor adults without food stamps: 33% obese
Non-poor adults who of course don't even qualify for food stamps: 32% obese

See the discrepancy there?

Of course, exacerbated by this fact... 59% of families on food stamps simultaneously get benefits from 2 or more major free food programs for the exact same daily meals. That fact published by the USDA OIG.

As every serious person knows full well, the so-called stimulus program (ARRA) worked almost exactly as had been planned and forecast. It was in brief a smashing success. Beginning in 2011 of course, Republicans began using the House of Representatives as an engine to oppose rather than support economic recovery. In their view, a bad economy would be good for them at the polls, so they did and still do whatever they can to assure that bad economic conditions persist. Except for the wealthy and mega-corporations.

Explain this discrepancy, then.

The study was done by Bruce Meyer (University of Chicago) and amounts to little more than a continuation of his poorly received "War on the Best Surveys in the World." The right-wing in general seeks to attack the reliability of authoritative sources that disagree with them, this in hopes of carving out space for their own more bozo-like ideas of the world.

You learned this how, again? You might as well just go back to telling everybody how you saw all those fur-and-jewel bedecked EBT card holders buying beer and cigarettes.
