How in the world are we paying income taxes on earned wages when it doesn't even align itself with the principles of the Constitution?

I've been doing some 'heavy' reading on the matter and was quite shocked at the stupidity of the matter. For better words, it was an insult like no other considering i'm a farmer/auto-worker.

How come this hasn't been abolished? ..

The politicians in Washington D.C. want to 'stimulate' the economy, they should start by abolishing the IRS and its "voluntary by compliance" method of collecting. In short, get rid of the income tax and you will stimulate the economy. (if D.C. is sincerely concerned about it, which i highly doubt!)

What are your thoughts and opinions on the income tax? (to wage earners)

Thanks! B.G.F.

I think we should abolish government entirely, because part of our taxes goes to pay for their salaries, as well as the salaries of their staffs.

Look at both sides of the equation and then get back to me with a more comprehensive proposal.

Stating "how do you feel about eliminating income tax" is oversimplification and pandering. Analyze budgetary impact and give me specific programs to eliminate. Keep in mind that I would like to see something more than IRS and funding of foreign countries, give me the entire proposal.

Kind of difficult to do though...

The best way to eliminate income taxes is to define the role of the federal government.

1) National defense
2) Uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights

Anything more than that is completely unnecessary. We will probably not have so many corrupt politicians in the government at the same time. We get in trouble when we expand power for politicians to abuse.

Get the majority of voters to agree with this and it looks like you have a plan.

That will require an overhaul of the education system, state by state. I believe the problem we have is a society that lacks the basic knowledge of civics, history, and economics to make a decision on policy outside of what has been spoonfed to them.

You sound like a Republican/Libertarian. Funny how so many people (not necessarily you) who scream for the likes of Teddy Kennedy and friends also want the government to shrink....

Voters? (as if you would put something like that on the ballot and let voters decide what Federal government ought to be..) Don't you mean the majority of "Americans"?

Nope, the only folks who count are those who vote, and elect the representatives who would need to support your point of view.

Yup, if you aren't going exercise your right to vote, you opinion really doesn't mean anything to anyone.
