They should get tax breaks, not be punished. Investments in capital allow products to be produced more efficiently, and can potentially allow production to stay in this country and not chase cheap labor around the globe. Not to mention that it frees people up from the drudgery of low skill jobs.
No but they also should not be taxed more. Government should take no position on this, at all.
I think one of our main goals should be meaningful work for all citizens and the ability to earn enough for all basic necessities. A safety net must be there for displaced workers. But machine labor should be a net positive in helping us reach our goals, and use of it should not be incentivized against. Hopefully we will find a way to ride the wave of prosperity driven by robotics to a better society.

OP, like most lefties, is confused about the nature of businesses. They are *not* social programs designed for the sustainment of the lowliest worker, but are meant to turn a profit for the stakeholders.
I look forward to the day when I can enter an eatery, place my order, receive the correct order in an efficient manner, and enjoy a meal without encountering a slovenly, non-English speaking drone who can't even count change back properly.
And while we are at it, all of you DIY folks should have to pay a percentage of the money you save by stealing the work of a tradesman to the local union.
Basically they already are punished because they are double taxed on income made in foreign countries.
Besides, businesses aren't welfare agencies.
ha-ha yea they pay taxes-sure hmh hm
More Than 90% Of US Businesses Don't Pay The Corporate Income Tax
. And as we also know, those foreign profits aren’t paying the US corporate income tax because, entirely legally, they’re being used overseas to reinvest in those foreign businesses.

Punished for efficiency????
Work for the government or go to France if that's what you believe.
Machines require mechanics, machines need to be manufactured and transported.
What you suggest is what the longshoremen pulled off. where they would be paid by the weight they didin't load.

So let me get this straight.....
Democrats / Leftists want to make it harder for businesses to make a profit and succeed by advocating all kinds of burdensome and costly regulations like paid maternity leave, paid sick leave, and raises in the minimum wage....
And then, when businesses just try to find new ways to survive and cut costs, like replacing human workers with machines so that they can avoid all that regulation and added expense, Democrats want to pile on even more regulation and punish those businesses?
Earth to Leftists, YOUR POLICIES ARE KILLING THE ECONOMY!!!!
Leftist policies are the real #EconomicTerminators... #WakeUp

"I think one of our main goals should be meaningful work for all citizens"
Define "our"
"and the ability to earn enough for all basic necessities"
The ability is and has been there all the time. It is up to EACH PERSON (except of course the invalids) to make as MUCH as they are capable of making.

Sounds like a true liberal.
Maybe Ford should NOT have created the assembly line. Look how many wagon and whip makers he put out of business.
Or w should confiscate ALL computers and make people go back the Underwood typewriter.
It is not if the IT world has mushroomed or anything.
And TOTALLY forget about the Internet.
Sorry, the world is not and NEVER will be utopia some of you think it should be.
