Obama seems to take great delight in making grand gestures at reducing the U.S.'s carbon footprint, and in interfering with the economies of close allies such as Canada to the same end. For example, Obama canceled the Keystone XL pipeline as a unilateral act, with no reciprocation from other countries.President Rejects Keystone Pipeline Involving Climate. Meanwhile, back in the real world, we learn that China Burns Much More Coal Than Reported, Complicating Climate Talks.

What this leads to is another grand dive towards an agreement on climate change at any cost in Paris this December. Shades of the Iran surrender, where Iran basically made a fool of Obama, Iranian leader tweets graphic of Obama with gun to head. Jimmy Carter had the same "death wish" for the U.S.; make large, one-way concessions in the hope that rogue nations would make common cause with the U.S. A lot like the lion laying down with the lamb, except outside the Bible that doesn't often end too well for the more compliant animal.

Getting back to climate change, it should be obvious that nothing that the U.S. does will make even a minor dent in world emissions. And even if it did, it would take centuries for already accumulated carbon to dissipate. There is also the question of climate cycles that likely swamp human impact.

In other words, these policies feel good and virtuous; and accomplish nothing except to impoverish countries such as the U.S. and Canada.

Exactly-

"Climate change" (previously known as global warming) is a hoax propagated to advance a political agenda. CO2 is a MINISCULE part of the atmosphere and man contributes 3% of that total. The fossil record shows no "cause and effect" relationship between CO2 and temps (in fact, CO2 rises AFTER increases in temps).

If we assume that CO2 is a "pollutant" (gee..... levels today are one fourth to one fifth of what they were in the past before man was even present on the planet- figure that!), the US is a FRACTION of the total world CO2 production, the majority coming from India and China. Despite that fact, somehow India and China are excluded from ANY "climate initiatives" and the main focus is on the west!

I wonder why India and China are exempt from "climate change" policies promoted by the UN and on the table in Paris at the "climate summit"???

Wake up libs- You are have been completely duped and are being used as "useful idiots".

The agenda is to foster a redistribution of wealth from productive taxpayers to Fourth World kleptocrats. Does anyone really think that the money will go to the impoverished citizens of these countries to mitigate the impact of climate change? They have to be kidding except the joke isn't funny.

Of course not. It will go to third world tyrants who will steal everything (as they have done time and time again.

AGW is the biggest scam foisted upon mankind. It will not die, as its perpetution satisfies a perverse , leftist political agenda, at the expense of US citizens.

One of the causes of the problem is the liberal tendency to do what feels good and virtuous even if 100% futile.

Well, the left keeps saying that " they has scientistical studies from global warmologists" that prove climate change is caused by CO2 and that only a massive wealth transference can stop it.
Rational, thinking people can wait for the debate to be settled but hysteria and panic are a lot more fun.

Obviously it's a non-sequitur. This goes hand in hand with the effort to criminalize climate change skepticism, Prosecution Threats Aid Effort to Shut Down Climate Debate .

Money or "carbon credits" cannot mitigate any change (real or imagined) of the climate. We cannot change the climate. We should not want to change the climate....change it to what? Colder? Hotter? Wetter? Drier?

The Earth's climate has always done it's own thing. It's been really cold....ice covered North America as far south as the Carolinas many times......and then, it warmed and the ice retreated.....it's still retreating...but one day, it will creep back. Maybe not from the north....might increase (as it's now doing) from the South Pole.

We humans a just along for the ride.
