"if the cornerstone of legalizing abortions is 'government has no right to tell a woman what she can or cant do to her body' then why is prostitution illegal?"

________

Good question...

I know right. To be fair, I can't take credit for that statement. It was made by someone else and I was like "Great point!"

So if their argument is that abortion is about a woman's choice to do what she wants with her body, why would it be illegal if a woman wants to sell her body? I'm saying though. And if gay marriage is legal because whatever between two consenting adults should be legal, why say it's wrong if two consenting adults want to put a monetary price on their sexual... activity?

It isn't the cornerstone of legalizing abortions that's why.

Roe v. Wade is dependent on the right to privacy, specifically between a doctor and patient, and that the public have no compelling reason to know the circumstances for any specific treatment.

Not that I don't think that the government has any right to tell anyone what they can do with their body, but Abortion isn't dependent on it.

Yet government is all up in our privacy.

How can the two be reconciled?

"It isn't the cornerstone of legalizing abortions that's why." Bologna

"Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), is a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court on the issue of abortion.

Roe vs Wade is ALL about abortion.

I agree. Prostitution should absolutely be legal, that's a no-brainer.

The premise of this thread is wrong because there is no Federal Law
making prostitution illegal in the U.S.
Until recently, prostitution was legal in my home state of Rhode Island
if it took place INDOORS.
Indoor prostitution still legal in R.I. - US news - Crime & courts | NBC News

Indeed. If two consenting adults decide to boink and make it part of a financial transaction, what business is that of anyone? Coercion, human trafficking and whatnot needs to be illegal, obviously.
