Other than the obvious love of country and the safety of US citizens, what do both sides have in common?

They both seem to like playing games once they get to Washington. Sequesters, filibusters, continuing resolutions, omnibus bills, etc. Anything not to do what they were elected to do.

I think if one party commented that it was a beautiful day, the other would immediately disagree and start an argument. SO, no.

There are a few things we can all agree on, but it seems they are getting to be fewer and more far between these days.

It depends on the Democrat & Republican involved. For instance - Joe Mansion (Dem W. Virginia) pretty much agrees with many Republicans on Energy.

The one thing that both Dems & the GOP are really starting to agree on is Obama's Lack of a Strategy on ISIS/ISIL

Depends on which GOP you're talking about. If you mean the mainstream republican party, then they and the Democrats can agree the conservative wing of the republican party has created a Frankenstein monster in the right wing tea party Republican faction. They have completely overrun the GOP and have an agenda of hate, paranoia and total destruction of the American political system put in place by our founding fathers. They have also brought all the half brained, certified, monomaniacal crazies to the fore of the political process. A disaster that will take decades to repair.

A thriving economy.

(However, I think the Republicans want the economy to be good so that there can be higher dividends for the stockholders, and the Democrats want it to be good so that there can be higher paychecks for the workers.)

Political elites of both parties agree completely that the electorate is stupid and incapable of thinking for themselves as long as they can be pitted against one another over inconsequential issues. And big corporations are evil (when speechifying to the masses) and essential to any winning campaign.

In other words, there are "business as usual" Republicans that will agree with most of the DNC to an always increasing debt, corporate cronyism, open borders, expansion of bureaucracy and a lack of accountability, and then there is the evil TEA Party conservatives who'd like to see that change.

If you like more debt, a smaller employment participation rate and more companies moving overseas, you should jump on the "business as usual" bandwagon and oppose those evil people who want change.
