IQ corresponds to income more than income corresponds to race, parent's socio-economic status, and even education.

Affirmative Action for low IQ people. Promote them up to better jobs.

What do SAT and IQ tests measure? General intelligence predicts school and life success.

It is based on erroneous assumptions.

For example, a fellow teacher of mine tells students that ALL whites have an advantage in society over ALL blacks. (Think about what this does to the psyche of black students hearing and believing this).

This teacher even will go as far as to say that Obama children are at a disadvantage to all whites...even a poor white kid living in poverty to a single mother in rural Michigan....despite the fact that the Obama daughters have:

-by all accounts good parents
-private schooling
-2 ivy league educated parents
-business, political, and social connections galore
-a family whose wealth is in the top 1%
-even if they get average grades they can get into an ivy league due to their parents

Do the Obama girls deserve a leg up with affirmative action compared to a white kid who is living in poverty with a single mother in rural Michigan?

"Affirmative Action" in practice means racial and gender "preferences" for non-whites and women -- which entail racial and gender discrimination against whites and males.

Affirmative Action is therefore racist, sexist, and violates both the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960s (and subsequent legislation) that banned discrimination based on race and gender.

It is ironic that within a year or two of banning racial discrimination, the government and courts gave a green light to...racial discrimination -- against whites. And soon thereafter, gender discrimination against males.

The idea of this discrimination is to remedy past wrongs against non-whites and women.

The trouble is that the white males in power who created affirmation action never gave up their own positions and jobs to women and minorities (and the white males who support it now also won't give up their positions and power.)

A second problem is that preferences are given not just to blacks and Native Americans who suffered from past discrimination by whites in this country, but also to Latinos and other "people of color" (including recent immigrants) who never suffered that discrimination. So if you're a black descended from slaves in this country, you are no more favored than a Latino who was born here 25 years ago. It's odd, isn't it, how blacks never seem to benefit from policies intended to help them, but millions of others do...

And women and non-whites who have been promoted based on gender and skin color have risen to positions that they don't deserve. Such as being admitted to Harvard when their academic aptitude only qualifies them for a community college somewhere if they are lucky. Or being hired for physical labor that they are not qualified to perform -- so they don't do their jobs, but companies are afraid to fire them lest they be sued for gender discrimination.

This has resulted in a lowering of standards across the board and an increasingly second rate American society.

It has also violated the concept of individual rights, fairness and merit that are the basis for a free, democratic and united nation.

If we're going to have racism and discrimination, then we might as well go back to the old-fashioned kind.

At least they have a sort of historical quaintness which the current phony compassion totally lacks.

Well, most people in this society are white.

Apparently that bothers you.

The Civil Rights Act already prohibited discrimination based on race, etc.

Affirmation Action reversed that, allowing discrimination against whites and males.

Which you apparently support.

President Lyndon B. Johnson enacted affirmative action
It was President Nixon, not Johnson, who first enacted affirmative action.

It is perfectly legal under affirmation action to discriminate against whites and males.

It is not only tolerated, it is encouraged.

I wonder how many of you would have been marching arm and arm with MLK when the shoe was on the other foot?

Affirmative Action is society's tacit admission that they expect nothing of value from non-whites.

So I guess when everybody hoots and hollers about how racist America is, they do have a point.

What? You mean that we should actually judge people by the content of their character, rather than the color of their skin? Actually treat people as equals, regardless of race? You racist bastage!
