The better question would be why do we consider $15/hr to be a high paying job? That isn't very much for someone to make it today's economy.
Something's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If nobody is will pay them more than $15/hr, then they simply aren't worth more. Companies provide jobs, products, and revenue. They're not charity organizations.
And do you like tablets because you don't have to tip or have to interact with the staff. Honestly, I love the staff. We always sit at the bar and get free drinks because we are there so often at many of these restaurants. Do tablets do that for you.
I still tip the usual for me 20-25%, instead of both wait and cleaning staffs, the restaurant gets by with one, though. Far more efficient. I save time, as soon as I know what I want, it is ordered.
I don`t work for the minimum wage because I have a skill that is in demand.
The wage I earn is not neither too high nor too low as it is what the market will bear.
The solution to the problem of low wages is to develop the abilities of our workers, eliminate free trade with third world nations, send all the illegals home, end H1-B visas, raise interest rates relative to inflation, lower the marginal corporate tax rate and eliminate destructive regulations.
Artificially increasing wages for the most expendable employees in the workforce will simply create an environment in which these workers will find fewer opportunities and greater competition for jobs.

That is the right wing mantra, Americans should be making less money so that those making the most can make more, it is called the New Right Wing American Dream.
This is mainly the reason why the GOP doesn't resonate with those who have had higher learning. Unless they're also benefiting from this ideology.

It is called the New Left Wing American Dream - a few really rich people and millions of unemployed people.
Yes, sorry it went over your head. $15/hr is considered below middle class pay in 32 states, so no one should be considering $15/hr to be a good paying job. When people who make $15/hr get upset that people making less than them want to be paid more, those making $15/hr should be wondering why they are being paid so little rather than wanting others to be paid less.
