Number one example to reject any religion or ideology that opposed masturbation. If this guy didn't think making a fist was a sin, maybe there would be no problem. But this is what we deal with when literal interpretations of religions exist. Islam has much more of a problem with it for whatever reason, but it's certainly not their problem exclusively.
I've always found the humanist view on sex to be smart. We're all products of nature and sexual urges are nothing to be ashamed of; but never forget that each individual is in fact an individual, so you shouldn't expect sex from someone who does not want to have sex with you.
