G.I.'s were paid for their service yet they get a free education.

All the same was your argument was that society does not benefit from these degree's. Are you now backing off from that argument?

Correct me if I am wrong. When you decide to go to college you are purchasing a higher education. You have decided to bet that the higher education will pay off. It's a choice we all have the option to make. Buyer beware. Just like buying that new house, or expensive car, or any other purchase. Buyer beware, because the bill will come due.
What makes anyone think that perfect strangers should have to pay the tab? You want a college degree? Go for it, just remember you gambling with your future. Chances are you will win the bet, depending what you gambled on. I don't don't know what an art or history major has by way of future income. I'm sure some nail it. I'm also sure that quite a few end up wishing they went for something that actually had a job market waiting for them.

Great......but we did it. These kids grew up seeing the Mozilo's, Blankfeins, Immelts get billions of dollars of taxpayer money, how is it now surprising that they want a little for themselves?

Given how poorly our public education system is working out, I would have to say public paid for tuition might be a bad investment.

Even Europe doesn't send everyone to college for free. Sure they can all go but only the best and brightest get their tuition paid for.

That will NEVER happen here in the US.

Why not? Having a public college and vocational system would make sense for the US.

Like I said, for your cockamamie plan to work, you want more of my property taxes. Brilliant.

Why not ? You really need to ask that question ?

Only the best and brightest get free tuition.
Go ahead..guess which demographic would make up those getting a free college education on taxpayer dime ? No AA allowed..strictly grades like Europe does.

Yeah..it will NEVER happen.
