The U.S. admits around 70,000 refugees per year – more than any other country – and President Barack Obama last week pledged that America would take in 10,000 Syrians alone during the next fiscal year. Yet as a fractured Europe strains under the massive influx of migrants arriving in its countries via boat and on foot, aid organizations argue the U.S. should be doing more to help resettle those fleeing conflict and repressive governments in the Middle East and Africa.
The U.S. government's process to resettle refugees on American soil, however, is complex and time-consuming. It consists of multiple government agencies putting potential arrivals through extensive security and health screenings to ensure they are who they say they are, that they are truly fleeing persecution and that they will resettle peacefully in the U.S.
The bolded is really the bottom line, you can never know if they are who they say they are. Why take the risks?
Everyone says things like, "it's the compassionate thing to do." That's all nonsense. It's confusion -- people that think they're being compassionate, when they're really only hurting the people already here. Talk about this "compassion" to the people who can't find work, and already aren't receiving enough in assistance. Those are the people that large numbers of immigrants will hurt.
When economy is bad, you don't need to import so many people, refugees, illegal, or even legal immigrants.
Actually it is, when we start picking which religions are and are not allowed in the US, we begin to lose our freedoms as Americans. As someone that is on the right wing politically, I would assume you were against taking away freedoms from Americans.
yep just like many were not f them were against the patriot act and ndaa that is at least until they were against it.

The way I see it is the bad muslims ruined it for the good ones.
It will take extra time, money, manpower and effort to make sure these new refugees are not terrorists or potential terrorists that we DIDN'T have to do with refugees in the past.
Not to mention the steps that will have to be taken to keep them from going online and being radicalized.
As of this writing, Obama is busy pondering what these steps might be...
Im a tree-hugging, bleeding heart socialist, but enough is enough already. "Islam" went from being a cult, er "religion"(lolz) to a political movement decades ago. So even if you think "all Muslims aren't bad", it can be equated to strippers, kiddy porn or cocaine dealers and other bad elements . . . You personally might not be doing bad things to people, but you are still part of a 'system' that does bad things by partaking. No, YOU might not have blown anyone up, but you are giving a tacit OK to those who do by not renouncing the cult or people who are the extreme elements. With most pols/govs too scared to call it what it is and deal with it on the level it needs to be dealt with, things are only going to get a lot worse, before better.
Oh look, lets blame the left for the actions of ISIS. I suppose I could return the favor and blame the right and their war mongering for helping bring ISIS into existence. It would actually have a bigger logical basis.
Seriously though, whats wrong with you people?
Its see who is the left? Lets arm the Syria rebels they said (Parts of ISIS)
Why because Assad was a bad man.. etc etc we have to do something.
Who supported that OBAMA, Hillary and many democrats and republicans. (Rand Paul did not)
This is the continued Intervention policies of Woodrow Wilson. (democrat, leftist, neocon rightwing, leftwing idealogy)
Somewhere along the line the democrats and republicans (the same party) love war, love to get involved in every thing. They get their hands full of blood and never understand the consequences of war. France and EU need to think about WHO they are letting in but their clouded EU liberal ideas confuse their thinking. IF a white guy from britian or an Italian christian is coming to FRANCE let him in its good bet he is not their to kill people. If a Muslim is coming to your country be prepared for TROUBLE. That is the facts and liberals (the left) are AFRAID of being called a racist and some how aligning themselves with common sense.
Where did some of the weapons and money go in Syria.... to the terrorists, Assad kills its people, rebels attack Assad, who are the rebels? Assad weakened ISIS moves in, spreads. Both sides were bad news.
Sometimes its best to let 2 sides of evil sort out their own mess and the countries in that region need to be aware of the influx of crazy people who have nothing, no food or water etc.
If you don't have a nation of borders and common sense polices close the borders.
Long ago before people started blowing themselves up I think we saw people coming here for freedom and better lives. Seems to me now we have people coming here for FREE government benefits and to kill us and looking to bring us to our knees and the dark ages.
You assume terrorists are middle eastern. At least one of the attackers was a citizen of France. Should the US cease to allow anyone from France to enter the US, just in case?
There are 70 million +/- annual tourists who enter the US, each year. How many are of Muslim Faith and of them, how many might have been radicalized?
Ideology has no geographical border.
No reason to allow any refugees from anywhere to enter the US for the foreseeable future.
He was a citizen but was a foreigner from one of those crap holes.
