Is it your impression that people in general think the Republican Party is the party best equipped to handle terror, crime, keeping them safe? Not asking if you believe Republicans keep you safe, are better on crime and/or terror but what you think the public at large believes.

Do you foresee new 2016 poll questions on this issue?

If you are a Democrat who thought you had the election sewn up, are you getting nervous?

My own opinion is the issues most important to people when voting are the ones that impact them personally, so the only reason this Paris event impacts voters is because Obama is taking in Syrian refugees and others from the Middle East. If he would stop doing that there would be less of an election impact minus an attack on US soil.

the Democrat Party is not the party of FDR, Truman and JFK when it comes to National Defense and Security......the anti-war hippies, socialists and tree huggers from the 60's took over the party.

No, I don't think it will sway any democratic voters. Maybe some independents. I am an independent and I don't trust the GOP on war due to me viewing them as war mongers and too quick to want to put troops in harm's way, so there are some who are afraid and will vote GOP and there are those who see the GOP as too quick to kill young people (our troops) who aren't related to them. I have quite a few young people in my family currently serving in the military and if they are going to be put in harm's way, I would rather a Dem be at the helm versus a Republican due to me viewing the Dems as more reserved and logical when it comes to war issues.

I personally don't feel that Dems are "hippie-ish" either. Both Clinton and Obama (the most recent Democratic presidents, both of whom were two term) have engaged in warfare and deploying of troops. I think the whole "Republican are tough" thing is a false perception.

On the refugee thing, I see that as an issue that is promulgated in part due to the media perception and with conservative voters, I especially feel they are negatively influenced by conservative media sources on this issue. Our country has always taken in refugees. I grew up with a lot of Persians (Iranians) whose family's were refugee's in the 1970s and early 1980s so were taken in primarily under the Reagan administration. I also knew a lot of younger kids when I was in school whose family's were taken in as refugees from Iraq in the 1990s. I knew A LOT of SE Asian refugees mostly from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.

The city where I live has already received Syrian refugees. We get a lot of resettled refugees due to having a low cost of living and adequate service providers for newly settled persons. The degree of background checking that our country does on refugees is pretty extensive and due to that, I have no fear of refugees here in the US doing anything to harm us in regards to terrorism.

Syrians prior to the civil war in that country were very highly educated and much more secular than what many think in regards to middle eastern countries. I think they are grateful to be here and safe away from all the turmoil in Europe and their home country so I don't fear them in any way. I also trust that our process here in the US is much better than in European countries in regards to Syrian refugees due to us not having swarms of them bombarding our continent.

No, LauraC as usual you are wrong. You seem to live in a very strange world where you think all roads lead to Clown Trump. They don't. Haven't you see how many people dislike Donald Trump? How poorly clown Trump performs when he is matched against Hillary or Sanders?

I'm an independent and the one thing that really scares me is a clown yelling that he is gonna bomb the oil fields and steal oil from another country and give the proceeds to Americans. I bet those countries are probably not very happy with those kind of statements. How would you feel if another country had a president who would openly say he wants to come here, bomb the $hit out of us, steal our resources and give them to their citizens?

No I am not that naive to vote for a clown like Trump who has zero military experience and who thinks he can speak to other countries the same way he speaks to Rosie O'Donnell on Twitter.

Iraq War. Thousands of dead Americans at the whim of a Republican administration. How safe does that make you feel, OP?

Liberals have Republicans pinned as warmongers.
So yeah, I could see it maybe swaying some voters but that does not necessarily mean the GOP has this thing wrapped up.

Lets break this down.

Obama claimed that ISIS was contained a day before the Paris attack. Democrats just freed 5 more Gitmo prisoners and want to free all of them and let Syrian refugee's in the US. These refugees can include ISIS into the U.S. claiming they can vet them when they can't even vet people who go on shooting spree's in the U.S.

Democrats and liberals ignore ISIS when they say they are already here. Democrats willful ignorance to the threat, calling them the JV team, calling all attacks on Americans "work place violence" even when they scream Allah Akbar as they kill. VS Republicans that recognize the threat, and understand that the world is full of evil, want to protect American citizens.

Islamic State threatens attack on Washington DC, saying

"American blood is best, and we will taste it soon."
-- ISIS

I remember back in the day when we were at war during Desert Storm and Bush Sr. was president and people like Bette Midler were singing anti-war songs. Back then you never heard of extremist terrorism. Of course they already existed but the average American could not name any of those groups or saw them as a threat to our US territory. Then came 911 and every American heard about the Taliban and Al-Qaeda and supposedly these were the most evil people in the world. Americans thought no way it can get worse, then ISIS came and videos of beheadings became the new normal. All these groups emerged because we armed the wrong people in the name of "freedom" Or defending "Western values" Anyone with an IQ higher than 100 knows this is about oil, not about protecting the freedom of some Muslims we don't give a $hit about because they live in another part of the world.

What's next? A new group worse that ISIS? Are the Paris attacks gonna become the new normal? Is the West slowly committing suicide by arming these people with low education who can easily be brainwashed to kill themselves in the name of their God?

Obama just now said he will continue to let Syrians into the U.S.

I was a registered Democrat. Have not voted for the GOP in the last 20 years. I voted for Obama. And was disgusted with the Bush Administration. However, I am not a blinded by political dogma Partisan. Just this year, I changed my voter registration to Non-Affiliated and will not be voting for Hillary Clinton in 2016.

And I know plenty of ex-Democrats who have done the same thing.

It's anecdotal for sure so it means nothing here, but this is my answer since the question was asked.

I don't think Hillary Clinton has it sewn up at all. Not even close. IMO, it's going to be quite a loss for the DNC.
