While I'm not a Constitutional scholar, I'm pretty sure a religious test for citizenship is blatantly unconstitutional as it would violate the separation of church and state.
I find some views held by the majority of Christians ridiculous and immoral, but I don't think someone should be denied citizenship simply for being Christian. How is this any different?
Citizens of other countries don't have a right under the US Constitution to be allowed into this country. So any restriction would not be unconstitutional.
Maybe if the loud mouthed Republic candidates had kept keep their vote pandering opinions to themselves while the crisis was going on Obama wouldn't have to say anything. They are the ones making us look bad around the world.
How many of our own homeless should we ignore so that we can take care of 185,000 refugees?
How many children living in cars with their homeless parents should we neglect so that can care for 185,000 syrian refugees, most of whom are men 18 to 45 years of age?
Obama should feel ashamed for turning his back on our own needy just so he can make himself look like a good guy on the world stage. This is Obama's MO. It's always about how he can make himself look good at the expense of his nation.
For all of you on the right and left participating in the Syrian immigrant hysteria, I am confused and disturbed.
Why do you abandon the very principals on which this country was built when you are afraid? We are a country of immigrants, that was built by immigrants. In the past, it is immigration that has made this country strong. However, we are a country that cherishes religious freedom-- and now many call for a religious test on immigrants?
These are legal immigrants. These are people who have no country-- Seeing their own was destroyed.
How come so many said that gun control legislation in response to Newtown was an "emotional overreaction", but don't recognize the emotional overreaction present in today's dialog about Syrian immigrants and Isis?
How cowardly and small the US must look from the outside when we immediately abandon our principals in the name of the illusion of safety.
Don't you realize there are countries next door to Syria not in war and the refugees are safe over there but heck NO they don't want to be there because they want to go to a country where welfare is given in exchange for no work! Than there are others leaving for other reasons.
Nobody had stated so far to leave them and not doing anything!
If anyone is saying that they are lying. All that many are saying is "help them in a safe zone near their own culture"!
A country of immigrants means a country of people who want to assimilate but that is not what muslims do. Have you seen their "western clothes" when they go to Europe and stay there for a long time and start to dress under sharia law! That is not assimilating and US immigration means you go and live in the US and you adjust and not the US citizens have to adjust!
When did you hear Jewish people or Buddist or any other religion or race call for Holidays to be changed and no longer it being allowed to do certain things. With the immigrants coming from a Country that calls for the State of Israel to be erased off the map and we have sound bites to proof that at US Colleges muslims have been stating that they want Israel off the map. Is that what immigration is about.
One of my kids is at a big Tampa College and if you look on whatever day how many are praying towards Mekka and dressed like they do in Syria you would not even believe you are in the USA anymore!

In the past, huh? So you want to use the way that things were in the past to justify modern policies? All right, let's do it. "Marriage equality" is going to have to go, just for starters.

O too often appears more concerned with and loyal to citizens of other nations than his own. Further, his rhetoric is too commonly more hostile toward republicans and U.S. citizens who disagree with him than it is to overseas enemies. And yet it's still a mystery to some why he is so disliked and disrespected here?
Obama Tells World That Americans are Shameful for not wanting Refugees from Middle East - Do You Agree?
I don't agree, and he should not speak for all Americans about how HE feels. The only thing Americans should be shameful for is electing him in 2008, and reelecting him in 2012 (I did not vote for him), and to top it off, having an apologist in the Whitehouse speak for the majority of Americans who want to protect our nation. There's nothing shameful about being very careful with who we bring into our country.
