All persons under US jurisdiction have rights. Putting the detainees under US control but on foreign soil is a legal technicality worthy of a 3rd-rank ambulance-chasing lawyer.

You can tell by his appointees (John Kerry, in particular) that Americans' safety isn't his priority. He'll release to other countries those prisoners he feels can safely be released, then the rest (presumably the worst of the worst) will end up on U.S. soil, caught up in our justice system instead of being treated like enemy combatants.

Take Kerry's wussy whip response to Ibrahim al Qosi's release from Gitmo, and subsequent fight against the U.S. : Well, Senator, he's not supposed to be doing that. To which he added, There will be consequences.

Really? [static] Ibrahim al Quosi, [static] please report to the principal's office. [static] Maybe Obama will follow that up with an angry letter.
