Republican NM Governor, and chairman of the Republican Governors Association, Susana Martinez held a holiday party (not a Christmas party!) for 200 of her staff at a Santa Fe ballroom. She and a smaller group retired to a staffer's hotel room that had rowdy behavior just before Martinez arrived.

The hotel clerk called Santa Fe police and said the hotel had received complaints about a noisy party on the fourth floor that reportedly included someone throwing bottles off the balcony.

The clerk told the dispatcher that occupants of the room had ignored warnings and asked that officers be sent to escort the occupants out of the hotel.

3 audio files at the link show Martinez in a haughty (tipsy?) voice demanding that hotel staff and police tell her the name of the complainant. At the end of the last tape she tells the police that "there is no necessity for your officers to be here. You can call them off. GOOD BYE!" (in a "good day sir, I said good day!" tone).

Martinez has apologized for her behavior.

The elitism of these elected officials usually becomes apparent when mixed with alcohol. When sober, most do a good job hiding it.

Didn't Sarah buy a house in Arizona? Instead of a wild west shoot-out, they can have a mouth-off! hehe

Until this I had some respect for her. Definitely not her normal voice.

Thanks! I wanted to be sure before accusing her of being drunk. I've known people who sound drunk when they talk, but it's just their normal voice.

She was being offensively defensive, which oftentimes results in testiness.
