Texas school board rejects push to enlist academics to check textbooks for factual errors | | Dallas Morning News

This is embarrassing even by recent Texas standards. When will educated Texans take their state back from the wingnuts?

Thank goodness we have this thread. I was terrified that we would reach the end of the week without a ....

BASH TEXAS thread.

Well done, you saved the entire week.

Try reading the entire article instead of the attention grabbing headline. There is already a panel in place to review text books and there's already a process in place for educators to notify the system of factual errors contained within the books. The point of the proposal was to create another panel to make themselves look good. I'm all for redundancy but adding another panel to the already established system of redundancy would be a boondoggle that would cost more tax money than they can afford. There's always going to be factual errors no matter how well reviewed. The trick with today's technology is to report the error in book, chapter, and page number. Editors can easily review and make changes for revisions.
