I'm sick of these people who refuse to assemilate and just want to suck us dry. There are plenty of things to be focused on and what someone decides to call themselves is not one of them. As for speaking aribic, the pizza owner should have told the other passenger in english to shut up, that he was an American and would speak whatever language he liked. I agree

However, it is impolite to speak a foreign tongue around others who can't understand.
I respectfully disagree w/ it being impolite to speak a foreign language around others who don't understand. I could see if you as a non speaker were hanging out with those individuals and they were rambling off in a foreign language but if they are just hanging with each other, then that is their business. What's impolite is eavesdropping in on other peoples conversations that don't concern you.

If we can kick people off a plane for speaking a language we don't understand, can we give babies the boot? I'd rather have someone roll out the prayer rug next to me than be on a plane anywhere near the vicinity of a miniature human under the age of 5.

It's not the children that get me, it's the parents that act completely oblivious to it that I take issue with.

Tell that to the millions of tourists that spend millions of dollars in NYC, Disney World and other parts of this country.
Let's make them all feel unwelcome. It's not like they help the economy or anything.

Right?

As long as you can communicate to me in English, I don't care what other language you speak in public or private. There are certain places and situations one should expect to hear more than one language, such as college campuses, international airports, cultural events,

I expect to hear different languages at airports. It's one of the joys of going to an international airport. And I speak from the perspective of living 45 minutes from Hartsfield International Airport.
