I owned Exxon stock at one time and there were many shareholder proposals that were voted down, the trustees on the board of directors are an impenetrable object but that is changing. Exxon and some of the other American compnaies are way behind most of their foreign competitors when it comes to climate change.

A new study finds that groups funded by the energy industry heavyweights use similar messages.
One of the biggest studies to examine how climate change became controversial points to the unified dialogue coming out of the hundreds of individuals and organizations funded by energy heavyweights Exxon Mobil Corp. and the Koch brothers.
The study, published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, reviewed 20 years of data starting in 1993 to show that climate change-denying groups and individuals who received money from Exxon Mobil and the Koch brothers began to unify their messages in 2007, amplifying supposed uncertainty surrounding the issue.
“They were writing things that were different from the contrarian organizations that did not receive corporate funding,” Yale University sociologist and lead study author Justin Farrell said. “Over time, it brought them into a more cohesive social movement and aligned their messages.”

Common sense trumps the false and misleading science the government and their grant sucklings put out. communications is critical to conveying information and the government has failed miserably to convince most that the world is about to end. A giant red flag is saying 'the science is settled'!!!!! the feds use fear and threats after running out of argument, another red flag that nefarious intent is afoot and 'science' has been weaponized to forward a political agenda. We have to pass it to see what's in it, mind set does't work for thinking people.

European energy companies like Shell and BP have heavy investments in renewable energy and carbon credits as do the major banks.
They try and portray themselves as being environmentally conscious but the fact of the mater is they are looking at the enormous profits that can be made through legislation. These companies don't care if they are simply passing taxes onto the consumer and putting a chunk of change in their pocket while doing it, the only thing they care about is those taxes are being equally applied to all companies hence the reason they need Exxon aboard.
