The syrians are more akin to the irish immigrants than the pilgrams.
When America was even more Conservative the Protestants in Philadelphia got freaked out that the Catholic immigrants were coming to take over and ruin the country. At least 30 people were killed in all and many more injured in the riots to burn down Catholic Churches.

During the 1840s, students in Philadelphia schools began the day with reading the Protestant version of the Bible. On November 10, 1842, Philadelphia's Roman Catholic Bishop, Francis Kenrick, wrote a letter to the Board of Controllers of public schools, asking that Catholic children be allowed to read the Douay version of the Bible, used by Roman Catholics. He also asked that they be excused from other religious teaching while at school.[3][4] As a result, the Board of Controllers ordered that no child should be forced to participate in religious activities and stated that children were allowed whichever version of the Bible their parents wished.[5]
The pilgrims were not from known terrorist countries.
Didn't you get the memo? According to the SJW's every white person who ever lived was and is a terrorist whose sole contribution to human society has been the oppression of non-whites. You only get a pass if you become a SJW filled with white guilt and self shame.

Nope! The Irish were not from a known terrorist country, we had a much smaller population back then, they were Christians, our economy was solvent, we had jobs for them, there was no welfare and we weren't trillions in debt.
Are the Syrian refugees much different from the Pilgrims that came to America in 1620? Initially, the Indians were somewhat sympathetic to the Pilgrims, yet we know the tragedies that the natives eventually suffered. Wouldn't the Indians have been better off to prohibit these undocumented immigrants from invading their country?
Something for liberals to think about.
[Mods, please feel free to move to the Illegal Immigration section.]

ha I am sorry but no. That actually couldn't be farther from the truth. 1830s' America was a time of radical change. Massive expansion led to the Panic of 1837 and the economic bubble bursting (sound familiar?). Over the course of the next 10 years, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and the territory of Florida all declared Bankruptcy. NYS was saved from the fact the Erie Canal was completed before the financial crisis. One of the reasons why NYC grew to be what it was/is.
The Irish Potato Famine had led to riots, racism, and poverty for the Irish people. Some people view the fact that England sat on their hands and let a million people die as genocide. The one's that were fortune enough to get out and leave for America, arrived in a time of turmoil due to the over speculation of the railroads.

The Irish were ostracized from American society for many things besides just being newcomers. The Irish were ostracized for being Catholic. Many Protestants and "native" Americans were distrustful of a religion that was, as they viewed it, highly irregular with its beads, meditative prayers to Jesus' mother, oils, saints and statues. The Irish were also categorized as angry, alcoholic beings--( the term "don't get your Irish up", stemmed from a stereotypical belief in the volatile Irish temper) who drank all the time in saloons and had regular bar brawls and parties filled with revelry and debauchery. They were illiterate, greedy,--therefore desperate to make it "Micks on the Make"--their families were too clannish, bred like rabbits, and the Irish were entirely figured to be a stupid servant race by the Bostonians and most of "native" America. These images were portrayed in the daily Boston and New York newspapers, photographs, and other media of the time. Those looking to escape these stereotypes and rise above them to be part of American society like Joseph P. Kennedy, had to work hard and take many knocks before any change was rendered.
One of the worst story's is the story of Duffy's Cut outside of Philadelphia. 57 Irish immigrants inexplicably all died in a short time and were buried in a lost mass grave. A few years ago they found the grave and some of the skulls were bashed in showing they were probably murdered.
