New shooters end up with multiples too.
As they learn more and discover what is out there they buy more sure.

Many that always were interested and thought "someday" no longer hesitate when they see someone threatening that "someday".

So you do understand that gun owners tend to own more than one gun.

That still proves my point, the majority of guns sold are to those who already own guns.

I know plenty who only own one. Truth is, there is no way to tell who is purchasing firearms. In your area, maybe it is all prior owners. In my area, it isn't. With the amount of antigun rhetoric currently in the media, it's highly doubtful that most firearms owners would honestly answer a survey about owning firearms. Going by what I see and what I hear from my friends in the industry, new owner numbers are increasing. Not surprising with Obama and his fear mongering.

Actually, it is women buying guns the most these days.

You very well could be right, but what is your point? Let's say we give you a big benefit of the doubt and let's say it is only 1 in 4. That means over 46,000 people bought a Gun for the first time last Friday.

...our point still holds.

Obama, the NRA's best friend and the best darn gun salesman this country's ever seen. I wonder how long before he orders restrictions on illegals and ex criminals buying firearms to be relaxed?

I wonder how many of those 185K will be lost or end up in the wrong hands.

Remember that's 185,000 NICS background checks so it is a minimum of 185,000 guns sold. The last time I had a NICS background check run I had 5 receivers listed on my 4473. When AR-15 receivers are selling for $49 each, you stock up.

Now when I buy retail or do a transfer, there is no NICS background check done on me because I have a concealed carry license. Since my background check for it was more thorough than the one NICS does, the state of MS does not require the FFL to make the call. There are at least a dozen states that do that.

Finally, that number doesn't consider the online purchases on black Friday that have yet to go through the transfer process. I was checking sales at only 4 online sellers and every one of them sold out by cyber Monday. Not only complete guns but kits (all of the AR-15 parts you need minus the receiver) and complete AR-15 uppers.

Black Friday breaks record with 185K gun background checks

This is just the further extension of the expansion of civil rights. Hopefully scotus takes one of the cases pending so those in deep blue territory will be able to excersize the rights enjoyed in the 40+ other states.
Well, it didn't say they sold that many, it said they performed that many background checks. Of course it is good news people have money to spend on Black Friday.
