Why do liberals apologize for Islamic culture when it stands against all they seem to support?

There are a lot of Bill Maher-type liberals. The problem is the exceptionally vocal "liberals" who rush to defend Islam no matter what. It's an over-reaction to the blanket hatred of all Muslims that comes from the right.

Reasonable people realize that there are moderate Muslims that need to be defended both from radical right wing bigots here at home and from Islamic extremists in the Middle East.
