I've just read this entire thread, and I'm dismayed by the number of posters here who think the best way for americans to resist/defeat a totalitarian ideology is to become more totalitarian ourselves.
Wartime always results in temporary loss of civil liberty. In case you haven't figured it out this is a war. The radical Islamists cannot abide the idea of:
A West generally supporting Israel, and holding the Western Wall;
Their 16 year old daughters being able to date anyone they want;
Their family members not having their faces covered (even though the Koran never mentions a hijab); or
Parents not having dictatorial control over their children.
In short, they cannot and will not accommodate themselves to any aspect of Western life other than subsidies. While I consider B. Hussein Obama's views that this may be a "workplace" incident to be a dereliction of responsibility, I will grant that some of these people are aggrieved and scared by what they see in the West. In short, walking time bombs.
Yup that's the answer alright. Be passive and everything will be just fine and dandy. They will change there evil barbaric ways. They will become our friend.
They will become trusting and sincere. Wishful thinking and in our dreams!

When ISIS and like organizations are defeated, it will be because moderate muslims will have finally had enough. It won't happen at all otherwise.

The entire gun grabber mantra is based upon an ideology that says gun ownership is bad, despite overwhelming evidence that majority of people who owns guns will not use it to commit a crime. It's especially ironic when you have the left saying (correctly I may add) that we should not blame all Muslims for the acts of a few. I find it strange the left does not jump on board with the right and start screaming we should ban/regulate all Muslims.
And just last week Obama mocked Americans for fearing Muslim women and children.
