Several of the people in that building had a military background. In Fact, one of the victims was a veteran.

It's amazing how the antigun crowd continues to ignore reality and claim that having a firearm won't give you any better chance of stopping active shooters.

This link has several examples of situations where a CCW holder stopped individuals intent on causing harm to others.
