It's about half of what it was 20 years ago. But no press coverage. Is it because good news doesn't sell? Or is it because they want to blame guns and the facts weaken their case?
-----------------------------------------
Earlier this fall, the FBI released crime statistics for 2014, the latest year for which data are fully available. In terms of violent crime generally and homicide specifically, those numbers are unambiguously good, with massive reductions in crime rates over the past 20 years.
In 1995, for instance, the violent crime rate (which includes murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault) per 100,000 inhabitants was 684.5. In 2014, it stood at 365.5. For murder and non-negligent manslaughter, the rate was 8.2 and 4.5 in 2014. These trends also show up in other violent crimes too.
In light of recent mass shootings in San Bernardino and Colorado, folks opposed to liberalized gun ownership and carry laws are quick to cry out that "enough is enough" and that, in the acerbic headline of the New York Daily News, "God isn't fixing this."

Doesn't fit the narrative. They want crisis. They also don't want to admit that what has worked is locking people up and that crime has decreased in spite of a massive increase in gun ownership.

They can't argue that they need more laws and more gun control when an ever increasing number of guns, gun owners and people carrying them are coinciding with a dramatic reduction in crime.

Gun crime is down a lot over the past 20 years. But as others have said, the media and Democrats want you to think its not and that its getting worse because they want to restrict our 2nd Amendment.
Does anyone really think the Left (media included of course) truly care about people killed by guns? They dont give a rip. If they really really cared, they would be more focused on the thousands of gun incidents that occur in the inner cities, often blacks killing other blacks. Goes to show you they dont care much about the black communities like they claim to.

I suppose one has to read the press in order to know what the press is writing about, if not one probably could come to the conclusion that the press isn't covering certain news.
It is sort of like, if the press writes a story and I fail to read it did the press actually write the story.
Hint, do a Google search of violent crime continues to decline, you might be surprised.

Like I did and posted; to little effect. People will believe what they want I suppose.
