Believe it or not, this makes the news so here it is, current even.

Why was he standing?

What do you say?

I say Hemorrhoids.

I would guess he wanted to be in the best position to make a run to the golf course after the speech to play golf/make tee-time.

Ok, we have as reasons, hemorrhoids and being ready to run to a golf game.

One more question: Could they be the reason? Running to play golf with Hemorrhoids?

My thought would be to show how serious this is, or more importantly not to make it look unimportant and casual by sitting. I know Presidents in the past have spoken about similarly serious issues while seated but I bet there will be teams studying how this came across as opposed to being seated.

At that level it is all about poll numbers.

I thought speeches were always given while standing.

I think he was standing to drive home the message about how serious he is "now" about isis but then again I thought he stood all the time.

jokingly maybe he was standing in case he had to run considering how that guy hopped the fence last week. How long will it be before a isis idiot jumps that fence with a suicide vest runs to the front door and blows himself up. Even if no one but the terrorist is killed imagine the black eye that would be for america and the morale boost for isis who is waiting to pounce.

I heard on the news that he was going to make his speech and then run off to this celebrity event, one of the awards show on tv. i thought that was pretty rude but he does this all the time - he makes a speech about some horrific event and then is shown shortly after going golfing as if it did not matter. like no time for sadness with him. make a speech and then go on for fun.

Now i saw him in a pic at this event with a suit and bow tie, and so it was true.

Not when the President is speaking from the Oval office. Historically, the President will sit behind the Resolute Desk. I find it odd for this president to stand behind a podium and have teleprompters for a speech from what is known as his daily office.

Unreal.

And yes, it does seem to be a pattern.
