The Levant is a geographical region. It total does exist. Within the Levant, is Syria. ISIS would imply that they are contained only to Iraq and Syria, which is not the case. They have territory in Lebanon as well, which is part of the Levant.
Either way, they call themselves ISIL so that's what they are.

I call them all sorts of things, and its what they are.
Since terrorists will apparently magically invade wherever we name them for, conservatives should be advocating to call them Islamic Caliphate of Guantanamo. The perfect trap.
Conservatives will find anything, no matter how ridiculous, to bash Obama for. This is one of those things.
This is just a little irritant. He worries about names so much that he banned the term "global war on terror," and started calling it "overseas contingency operations. " I think Obama and probably most of his predecessors since political consultants came into power will spend hours discussing how to phrase something so it conveys exactly the right message he wants to send.
