Currently it has a lot to do with the islamophobic fear mongering. Those shaking in their shoes feel that owning assault weapons will keep them safer. Good luck with that.

Seeing as my deer rifle has better range then Aks and is more accurate, I am not so sure about that.

All of a thousand people were surveyed yet the results are generalized to the entire U.S. population. You'll pardon me if I'm dubious.

Of course you are since it doesn't fit your bias. I bet you believed the utterly flawed "study" that says you're likely to be shot without own gun and that no mass shooting has been stopped by an armed civilian either.

You would most likely only need to shoot someone once with the deer rifle, too.

right because a .308 or a 30-06 is less damaging than a a 7.62x39 or 5.56/.223 round

the fact is that you have no clue about which you speak, and you are just embarrassing yourself every time you post.

My complaint is with a professional news site using such a blatant misrepresentation of survey results, and my personal thoughts about gun rights are irrelevant, but since you brought it up, I support the second amendment. That said, there is an enormous difference between writing "Forty-five percent of those Americans surveyed" and "Forty-five percent of Americans." The latter is egregiously irresponsible journalism.

Fifth grade math students in our district spend a lot of time on this concept. I remember going over it with my kids when they covered basic statistics in elementary school. There are approximately 245,000,000 people over the age of eighteen in the U.S., and ABC would have us believe that a survey of just one thousand people who answered a phone survey accurately represents the entirety of our country. I don't buy it, and neither should you.

Well "of course" everyone is against an AWB. Any moron konows disarming lawful citizens is against the 2nd Amendment and all america stands for, besides making us powerless against attack by jihadists or our own govt.

Which is why the stupid, ignorant democrats have just introduced another AWB bill in the House.

It is not who is conducting the poll. It is who is using the guns. When people see their friends and neighbors gunned down by the same guns that politicians proudly banned, they go what the heck? Looks like they are going to get them anyway. Why should I deprive myself of having one too?
