I hope that one day it'll be that damn Libertarian kicking the crap out of both the Ds and Rs. Rarely are any of us better off with the other side. It's time to move to the true middle, with people who actually care about the citizens and their rights.
If I could rep you 1,000 times for this comment I would!!!! Yes we need to flush these corrupt, authoritarian, out of both parties like the turds that they are, and get folks in office that will respect our individual rights, liberties, as well as respect and adhere to the Constitution! Not to mention get rid of the corporate cronyism as well, because what we have now sure as hell isn't capitalism! Again...well said!

WAKE UP PEOPLE!
The people are awake and individual liberties is not what they vote for.

I guess if you really want to go that angle, then in a sense you would be correct. Too bad people are all too willing to give up their individual liberties.
Only a democrat is this dumb. You want to "crack down" on the 2nd amendment so you refuse to recognize CCP from 25 states....
Constitutionally, no State or Commonwealth is required to recognize the laws of other States, excepting under certain special conditions, namely property rights and criminal law.
Well, as the story says ..."Under the policy, Virginians with a history of stalking, drug dealing or inpatient mental-health treatment cannot obtain a permit in a state with comparatively lax laws and carry a handgun legally at home."
So I can only conclude that the posters here who are deploring this decision support allowing stalkers, drug dealers, and in-patient sufferers from mental disease to carry concealed weapons in Virginia, in contravention of laws legislated by Virginia's citizens.

Is that correct?
Yes, you are correct. You're also correct if you can assume that the other posters didn't bother to read the story.
---"Virginia law lists 20 conditions that would disqualify a person from being issued a concealed carry handgun permit. They include anyone in the United States illegally, subject to a protection from abuse order, or convicted of various criminal charges from drunken driving to assault and battery.
People convicted of a felony, domestic abusers, those adjudicated mentally ill or incompetent, recently convicted drunk drivers and dishonorably discharged military personnel are among those determined by the Virginia General Assembly to be ineligible to lawfully conceal handguns."---
Pretty much all of those conditions federally prohibit people from possessing firearms. So even if someone had a CCP they'd be in violation of federal law possessing one if they have a disqualifying condition (a CCP doesn't permit someone to violate Federal law). If you can't legally buy a gun from an FFL, you can't legally possess a gun irrespective of whether or not you hold a current Concealed Carry license.
Illegal aliens are already prohibited, anyone who is convicted of domestic violence, or subject of a DVRO are prohibited, anyone convicted of a felony or any offense with a maximum sentence (regardless of sentence given) of over 12 months in prison is already prohibited, anyone adjudicated mentally incompetent is prohibited (ironically Seung-Hui Cho was just such a person and was legally able to buy firearms in Virginia because the State failed to abide by Federal regulations and notify the FBI of the result of his incompetency hearing), anyone dishonorably discharged from the military is prohibited.
The one suspect is drunk driving, however I'd bet you dollars to donuts somewhere in the detail that's a Virginia analog of felony DUI/DWI (not first time DUI/DWI, or someone injured of killed while the driver was in that state), which would make the person already prohibited.
It's a do nothing law, except for impacting people who could previously legally carry concealed in Virginia under their state reciprocity.
What's funny is that most of Virginia is Red. If it were by Land, the Democrats would had lost big time. What the problem is, is the DC people crossing over the bridges at night to go "home". There just ain't enough land in DC or enough decent neighborhoods to keep them there and the real Virginia gets the shaft. It's not just Virginia though, as other states have this problem.
Yea, being a conservative in SoCal is proof that a person can be an island.
