Just like the Reagan era of the 1980s and early 1990s...can Obama put a influence on American politics for a generation?

Obama is the Democrats' version of Reagan...someone who will be adored by the party as a savior, loathed by the other party as one of the worst presidents...and in reality, someone who at best, was just a very mediocre president.

Maybe, with regard to the gullibility of the electorate.

I'm wondering if the OP has asked a serious question or a joke. I'm opting for the latter.

I suspect it is serious. Many folks believe Obama has done amazing things as a president. But really its only impressive if compared to his predecessor. I suspect in the end Obama will be viewed as a pretty normal president, that did a reasonable job taking a economy that was trashed, and bringing it back up. If he had pulled off single payer he might be viewed better, but he did not. Maybe Trump or Sanders will manage that. Clinton certainly won't. Shrug.

Just like he is America's #1 gun salesman.

Those getting welfare checks will remember him fondly.

Taxpayers will like to forget him.

Yes- he certainly has

1. competence for a POTUS is no longer an issue for the electorate

2. subverting Congress and the Constitution will be a presidential norm in the future

3. by creating a massive influx of poor, uneducated illegals, Obama has tipped the electoral balance almost permanently to dems

4. scandals and illegal acts by the POTUS are the norm and will only be covered by the media if there is ever a republican POTUS again

5. a POTUS can be re-elected, despite directly opposing the will of the American people in countless arenas

6. The IRS, Homeland Security, and the FBI have been given, and will expand acts against innocent US citizens

7. Any identification of Muslim terrorists in our midsts will always be considered "racist", not prudent

8. Killing the middle class and Christianity will be expected and the norm for future dem presidents. No one cared when Obama and Clinton did it.

9. The DOJ will do nothing in the future for criminal acts of a POTUS- mum is the word now.
