African immigrants perform at high levels in America. The academic achievement of African immigrants is said to be comparable to that of Asian immigrants. The crime rate of African immigrants is low. The families of African immigrants are much more intact than that of African Americans. The economic status of African immigrants is much higher than that of African Americans. What does this demonstrate about Africans vs African Americans?
In the 1600’s and 1700’s, prior to coming to America to be enslaved, we were the same. Our culture was the same, or values were the same, our intellect was the same. We were the same people. Today, however, the African American is culturally different from the African. What explains this difference? If that Is the way we used to be and after being isolated for 300 plus years in America, is it not obvious that America accounts for the difference in the way we are now, relative to the African?
It’s true that Africa was colonized by whites and exploited by western powers and the cold war, but to a large degree African were able to hold onto their native culture, their names, their customs….their identity. On the other hand, blacks in America were stripped of their names, the culture, their religion, their identity etc. Since culture is LEARNED, after blacks in America were stripped of their culture…..we had to learn culture from whites. What did whites expose to blacks for over 300 years? Racial abuse and denigration! Our culture is born from racial oppression and living away from our TRUE CULTURE….which is African culture.

You are correct. Africa is, by and large, a basket case. African Americans are far more successful than the average African. The only explanation for the difference is "white racism". Life in countries built by white people is much better for Africans. That's why some of the brightest people in Africa have moved to the West.

Africa is an economic basket case because European took control of their resources long ago, and transferred the wealth and benefit of those resources to White peoples. Since it takes money to make money......Africa really cannot generate much momentum since Europeans have most of the money. Asia started to rise, like China, because of direct foreign investment. In other words, Europeans started investing heavily in Asia and hence money started producing money in Asia. Europeans did not do the same thing in Africa....instead giving compound interest loans that indentured those nations to the West and western geopolitical policy interest...such as the Cold War.
The issue is not the economic state of Africans, but rather, their cultural and mental state. When they get here, where the money and hence opportunity is.....the EXCEL!!! Black Americans do not do as well because.....well....to put it bluntly:

Uh; this is 2015, NOT 1995. Word is more and more of "Black" Africa's really stepping up and taking care of business like Botswana, Namibia, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, and even Somalia.
...it lacks human capital. Nigeria cannot even keep the lights on for a lack of competent engineers, let alone make high value-added products that people want to buy. Fortunately, Africa still has a huge amount of wealth in the ground that only needs digging up. But much of that is stolen by corrupt "big man" leaders to finance their jetset lifestyle while their countrymen scrape by on $2 a day.

... of its massive reserve of talented people. Even when they were dirt poor and half starved under Mao the Chinese tested at European levels for IQ and were reasonably educated. Once Deng let capitalism loose in China, capital flowed in and people all over the world bought Chinese made goods.

I generally agree, a couple reasons:
1. Selective immigration. Same reason that Asians do better.
2. Poverty is linked to a variety of social ills, crime, low performance etc. Obviously, blacks have a lot more poverty due to historical oppression.
