Now that Lucas has made a few million dollars on another remake of the same old [MOD CUT] , let's go along with 9 1/2 fingers Emanual to lease the lakefront property to him for $1 for his namesake building. It's the least we IL. taxpayers can do for this multi-millionare. It would be a shame to break the tradition of giving away the people's land to the politician's friends. May the Force shove it down the taxpayers throats again !.

It's Chicago, what do you expect? Should have spent the money that they lose on his deal to look at ways to stop, or slow down, the black on black murders that black lives matter continues to ignore
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is a museum planned to be opened in Chicago near Burnham Harbor and slated to be completed in 2018.[1] Endowed and built by film creator and director, George Lucas,[1] it will hold paintings, photography, illustration, films and digital art.[2] It is estimated the construction of the building will cost its founder $300 million, with the endowment costing Lucas an additional $400 million.
The museum will house works by artists such as N.C. Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, and Norman Rockwell.[11] The museum will also include other paintings, digital art, film, and sculpture.

4. An economic impact study predicts the museum could rake in more than $2 billion in tourism revenue to the city within 10 years.
The earliest the museum would open is in 2018, but Mayor Rahm Emanuel said at a press conference the construction process alone would create about 1,500 jobs. As for permanent positions, it would be 400 to 500.
8. One of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s stipulations for letting Lucas build his museum in Chicago was that no taxpayer dollars would be used to pay for it – including any environmental cleanup.
A site inspection report filed with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency indicated that construction could unearth potentially cancer-causing chemicals from debris dating back to the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Estimates for the cost of environmental cleanup are yet to be determined.

Thanks for giving us the real story, katzpaw. It sounds like a museum I will visit when it's finished.
I am really excited for this museum. I am also excited to see how the design of this structure turns out. I am betting it will satisfy my inner nerd and inner architect.

Chicago has a number of world class museums and not a single one of them has ever been "shot up by gangs." You right wingers and your knee-jerk Chicago bashing are tiresome.
