The U.S. Park Service plans to cut off power to the building the occupiers have taken over. Snow storms are forecast for the area on Tuesday, with temperatures dropping to the teens by Tuesday night.

"After they shut off the power, they’ll kill the phone service,” the government official added. “Then they’ll block all the roads so that all those guys have a long, lonely winter to think about what they’ve done.”

This is exactly how this should be handled. Let's see what these tough guys are really made of.

It can happen which is why it's stupid to take sides based upon pre-conceived notions on color or politics.
The DOJ immediately took issue appealing the sentence, this did not appear out of left field and other charges were dropped because the minimum sentence was 5 years. There was some logic behind this resentencing. If prosecutors knew up front that the judge was going to ignore the mandatory minimum sentencing they would have most likely proceeded with the other charges.

There is mandatory minimum sentencing when it comes to drugs but that is changing for the better.

It happens. That's the system. Prosecutors "suggest" sentencing but it's up to the judge in most cases. Generally the prosecution doesn't know what the judge will decide before the fact.

In part that is what the BLM protests and riots are about, no?

BLM is a terrorist group that has taken over interstate highways, entire business districts and private businesses. They should have been dispatched as quickly as possible.

Terrorists looted, burned and destroyed neighborhoods in Ferguson and Baltimore. They should have been dispatched as quickly as possible. Instead law enforcement did nothing.

Occupy Wall Street acted as terrorists, taking over private property and public parks for weeks. They should have been dispatched as quickly as possible. Instead law enforcement did nothing.

The current group takes over an insignificant building in a remote wild game area. Yet they should be "dispatched as quickly as possible"?

We all know there are a lot of hypocritical so called "conservatives" around.
No surprise there.

It's still a public park.

Where else in the world, does that happen?
Tribal areas of North Afghanistan, remote reaches of Pakistan. The cartels used to control sizable areas of Colombia. FARC holds quite a bit of territory. Shining Path used to.

It's a perfectly crappy way to live for most.

Nah. Cut the power and water, wait them out. Then hand them a bill for wasting everybody's time and - this last bit is important - charge them with whatever small felony will stick. Convicted felon means no guns, remember?

If force is needed, use firehoses. Wounded partisans are heroic, wet people just aren't.
