If the polarization among us ever reached that level of intensity, the obvious answer would be a "friendly divorce", as with the Czechs and Slovaks -- or the Swedes and Norwegians over a century ago. I know of a few specific people who would defend themselves with deadly force if law enforcement showed up to take their guns, or even for less than that.

I know there are others who would do the same, but I'm not sure how many that is. It's usually the ones who understand their rights as human beings and learn from world history.

Oh, you mean like in Nazi Germany where gun registration was closely followed by gun confiscation?? That history?
