The problem is, she's just a minnow, not even a cog in the wheel. Firing her will accomplish nothing. You can't force people to change the way they think. The state can penalize them for it, just look at the poor bakers who declined to bake cakes for gay couples, but I doubt they changed their minds. It's going to take a generation or two of sweeping the academic house for genuine change to occur. All you can do is alert the academic left that certain behaviors are unacceptable.

You are not comprehending the article correctly. The GOP lawmakers wrote a letter, by their own volition, not at the urging of any group. The letter is an extension of their Free Speech rights, just like any other citizen. They are seeking the removal of a person who is paid by tax dollars and who used her position to intimidate students and to block THEIR free speech.

The only reason that the GOP is named is because the reporter wants people to respond just the way you did, without reading the entire article and understanding WHY the letter was prompted and WHY the elected officials sent the letter in the first place.

There is no government overreach in what these lawmakers have done.

They are using their position as government officials to intimidate/bully the school to terminate the employment of this individual.

How are they intimidating or bullying the school? By signing a letter? Please explain how you inferred any bullying or intimidation? Have you seen the letter in its entirety? I posted an excerpt of it and there is nothing close to intimidation or bullying that can be inferred from its contents.

They should defund the university entirely for a year or so then start over again.

You think that a professor seeking to use force to bully and intimidate a student from attending an event is a "miniscule" action? Strong-arming a student, attempting to grab and take their personal property and suggesting assaulting the student because the student journalist was recording an event?

I guess your view of miniscule and mine are quite different!
