Conspiracy theories are interesting. I think it's bad to discount them completely, but the reason people do usually makes sense. Insanely obsessive people are the ones who attach to these ideas the most aggressively.
And some of these are more credible than others. The Prison Industry is a huge supporter of crime and bankers certainly aren't transparent enough to rule out the possibility that they had no role in the 2008 crash. But climate change has evidence for it and it's ****ing absurd to think the government is poisoning people through cracks in the street.
More evidence is always needed, and until that evidence is found, you shouldn't say with absolute certainty that 9/11 was an inside job.
There are a lot of good ones that I don't have time to list, but I'll do a couple that might not be mentioned by others.
Right - the government is purposely trying to cause a financial collapse so that citizens will turn to them for help, giving them more control over society. It's more of a libertarian one actually...not completely counting it out, but I think it's more ineptitude than evil plotting.
Left - everything anti-government is funded by the Koch brothers and big business so that they can take advantage of the citizens when regulations are gone.
Also, the patriarchy in new wave feminism, which is really just a subsection of leftists. It's a conspiracy by men to keep women down...
What about one of the originals - moon landing deniers
